BUYING GUIDE

Choosing to buy a home is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make in your life. It’s a complex ordeal that requires a lot of planning and recruiting the help of a knowledgeable Realtor® will make the process run smoothly. To help ready you for the process, here is a general overview of what to expect and prepare.

Step #1

Find the Realtor® that’s right for you

It’s important to partner with a Realtor® that you feel completely comfortable with. A good agent will help you find your dream home that meets both your needs and your budget, and tirelessly advocates on your behalf. They will coordinate and accompany you on viewing appointments and help bring clarity to the complicated process of buying a home. You’ll want an experienced and knowledgeable Realtor® who you feel 100% confident will listen to your needs and concerns and represent your best interests.

Step #2

Get your finances in order

Take a look at your finances with a trusted mortgage broker. They will help you determine what you can afford, get you pre-qualified, and identify what you will need to set aside for your down payment and closing costs. If you aren’t quite there yet, they can help you determine what you can do to reach your goal of home buying. Whether you’re ready now or a year from now, your lender and Realtor® will be on your timeline. Reach out for help connecting with a local rockstar lender.

Step #3

Materialize a vision of your dream home

Once you’ve established a price range it’s time to explore what type of home will best suit your lifestyle. Think about things like location, number of bedrooms, play space for fur babies (or actual babies), what you are looking for in a neighborhood, and so on. Creating a “needs” and “wants” list while being thoughtful about why you are buying will help answer these questions for you.

Step #4

The fun part – You’re home search

Using the property search on this site and consulting with your Realtor®, you will be able to find homes in your desired area. They’ll update you frequently regarding new listings and schedule you appointments to see properties in person up until you find your dream home. Venture out with your Realtor® on a Market Education Day to see your home-buying visions become a reality.

Step #5

Closing on your new home

You found it! Now for the transaction. Many things happen during a real estate sale. First, your Realtor® will help you place an offer that the seller will either accept, counter, or reject. After you’ve negotiated an offer, your agent will help you conduct a home inspection, order title documents, coordinate with your lender to schedule your home appraisal and finalize your mortgage to prepare to sign off on ownership.
